IT Consulting

IT Consulting for Small Businesses.

Independent technology guidance for owners and operators making real budget decisions. Vendor-neutral, written deliverable, scoped to your business plan.

The reality

Most small businesses make technology decisions blind.

Every vendor calls their product the obvious choice. Most consultants take commissions. The owner ends up choosing between sales decks, not solutions.

What goes wrong

  • Every vendor says their tool is the obvious choice
  • Most consultants are tied to reseller agreements with commissions
  • Tools overlap, subscriptions get paid for and unused
  • IT spend grows faster than the business, with less to show for it

What we deliver

  • Vendor-neutral guidance; we do not resell anything
  • Written technology roadmap aligned to your actual business plan
  • Software and platform selection based on fit, not commission
  • Budget planning with capex and opex laid out in advance
What's included

What this looks like in practice.

The work that actually happens once we are engaged. No abstractions.

Technology assessments

A senior engineer audits the current environment: what you have, what works, what does not, what is missing. Documented for you to keep.

Three-year technology roadmaps

A phased plan for modernizing the stack. No overwhelming overhauls, just sequenced steps with effort and impact noted on each.

Vendor-neutral solution selection

Software, hardware, and platform selection based on fit, not commission. We help you evaluate options and run procurement on your behalf.

IT budget planning

A realistic budget covering ongoing costs, planned upgrades, and reserve. Capex and opex laid out so finance and operations are looking at the same numbers.

Implementation oversight

Once a solution is selected, we run the implementation: vendor coordination, configuration verification, acceptance testing.

AI and automation readiness

Where AI tooling can earn its keep in your operation, where it cannot, and what you would need to put in place to get value out of either.

Common questions

A few things owners usually ask.

What does an IT consultant do for a small business?

Evaluates the current environment, understands the business plan, and helps you make confident technology decisions. Assessments, recommendations, budget planning, implementation oversight, and ongoing strategic guidance. Effectively a fractional CTO without the executive salary.

How is consulting different from managed IT?

Managed IT is operational: monitoring, help desk, maintenance, security. Consulting is strategic: planning, evaluating options, making decisions about technology investments. Many clients use both. We run the day-to-day environment and also advise on the larger calls like cloud migrations, software selection, and growth planning.

Do you sell hardware or software?

No. We are vendor-neutral by design. Recommendations are based on fit, not commission. We can run procurement on your behalf, but we do not take kickbacks or partner spiffs from any vendor.

What does it cost?

Consulting engagements are scoped after a free strategy call. Single assessments and technology evaluations are typically project-based with a fixed fee. Ongoing strategic advisory can be structured as a monthly retainer. For managed IT clients, regular strategic guidance is included via quarterly business reviews.

When should we engage a consultant?

When you are planning a major technology change (cloud migration, ERP, office move). When IT spend feels out of control. When the operation is growing and the technology is not keeping up. When security or compliance pressure is rising. When a recent decision did not go the way it was supposed to and you want a second look.

Ready for technology that gets out of your way?

A 30-minute call is usually enough to know whether we are a fit.
